LEARNING CCONCEPTS AT SMALL GROUP CIRCLE:

(On 3-5-side @9:00 am daily)

Starting September 1st  we are back to planning our learning concepts to be implemented each day at small group circle.  In the monthly newsletters online it will state the specific concepts we will be focusing on at that time in order to keep up on our assessments of each child’s development.  The concepts are always being presented in our curriculum activities set up each school day, but this is an extra attempt to expose the children to a learning opportunity while in a small group setting.  See September concepts below:

Sept 1st  – Sept 10th :

*Name recognition-visual

*Count 1-10 forward & backwards/higher number counting

*Learning friends’ names at school

*Know first letter of one’s name/full name

Sept 13th –Sept 24th  :

*Matching

*Patterning

*Rhymes/songs

*Scissor skills

Again these concepts are for this month and as the children master these we can continue to challenge them throughout circle with additional concepts.

September Fun

Create stamp art with some autumn apples just picked off the tree.  How to make:

1.  Slice an apple in half lengthwise.  Blot the cut surface with a paper towel.

2.  Use a small paintbrush and have your child apply red or green washable paint to the surface.

3.  Press apple onto paper-construction or brown grocery bags-you may need to hold the stem down to mark the paper.

4.  Repeat with green paint on leaf or hand paint one.

Hope you have a fun time!!

** This is a favorite art project we will do at school this month too!! **
